If lead and cadmium are dangerous, why are lead and cadmium used in producing of our dinnerware?

Lead helps improve durability and seal plate glazes and decorations. It makes the decorations bright and shiny.

Cadmium adds bright colors to the tableware such as yellow and orange.

Lead is hazardous to children, pregnant women and unborn babies. It can affect the development of the child’s brain and nervous system.

There are a few ways how lead can transfer from the dinnerware to your food; causing harm to your bodies.

• Serving hot food on plate; the heat will extract the chemicals into your food
• Microwaving or baking
• Acidic Food on the dinnerware. Acidic food include frequently used Asian favourites such as soy sauce, tomatoes and lemon.
